Every Dear Edition Magazine is made to order with your own photos, words and design. This policy explains when you can cancel, what happens when something is wrong with your Magazine, and how and when we refund you. It is part of your contract with us, together with our Terms of Service, Shipping & Delivery Policy, Personalized Products Policy and Payment, Pricing & Taxes Policy. For Orders delivered in Türkiye, the Turkish İptal, İade ve Değişim Politikası, Ön Bilgilendirme Formu and Mesafeli Satış Sözleşmesi apply and prevail where they differ.
Words such as "Dear Edition", "we", "you", "Magazine", "Order", "Partners", "Türkiye Order" and "International Order" have the meanings given in our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
Your legal rights come first. This policy does not limit any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, including your rights if a Magazine is faulty, not as described, damaged, lost or late.
1. Summary
| Situation | What you can do |
|---|---|
| You have not paid yet | Leave the checkout or cancel the unpaid Order in "My orders". Nothing is charged. |
| You have paid and production has not started | Ask us to cancel. Türkiye Orders: full refund. International Orders: we try to stop production, and if we can, we refund in full (section 3). |
| Production has started, or your Magazine has arrived, and you have changed your mind | Personalised Magazines cannot be cancelled or returned for a change of mind (section 4). |
| Your Magazine has a printing or binding defect, or is not what you ordered | Reprint at no cost or a full refund, as you prefer, plus any other remedies the law gives you (section 5). |
| Your Magazine arrived damaged | Reprint at no cost or a full refund, as you prefer (section 5). |
| Your Magazine did not arrive, or is very late | Reprint or full refund, and your rights for late delivery (section 6). |
| You received the wrong item | We send your own Magazine at no cost (section 5). |
| You were charged twice | We refund the extra payment (section 7). |
| A non-personalised item (for example a gift box or a gift card) | The normal withdrawal rules of your country apply to that item (section 8). |
2. Before you pay
Until your payment is confirmed, you have not bought anything. You can leave the checkout at any time, or cancel an unpaid Order from "My orders". Your design stays in your account.
3. Cancelling after you pay, before production starts
3.1 When production starts
We start producing your Magazine only after your payment is confirmed. The moment production starts differs by destination:
| Production starts when | How you can tell | |
|---|---|---|
| Türkiye Orders | We release your print file to our printing Partner in Türkiye. | Your order page changes to "Printing" and we e-mail you. |
| International Orders | The short hold period at the Partner facility ends. The hold starts when your Order is passed to production, which happens automatically shortly after your payment is confirmed. | Your order page shows "Printing". Your Order can be in the hold period while the page already shows "Printing". |
3.2 How to cancel
Write to info@dearedition.com with your order number and say that you want to cancel. You do not need to give a reason.
- Türkiye Orders: if your request reaches us before production starts, we cancel your Order and refund the full amount, including shipping.
- International Orders: your Order is passed to production automatically shortly after payment, and we may not be able to stop it. Please write to us immediately. If we are able to cancel the production job, we cancel your Order and refund the full amount, including shipping. If production has already started, we will tell you, and section 4 applies.
3.3 Changing your design after you pay
The Magazine that is produced is the version locked when you placed your Order. Changes you make in the editor afterwards do not change the Order. If you want to change something, ask us to cancel before production starts (section 3.2) and place a new Order with the updated design.
4. Personalised Magazines: no change-of-mind returns
Your Magazine is made to your specifications and is clearly personalised: it contains the photos, text and design you chose, it is produced only after you order it, and it cannot be resold to anyone else. For that reason the law of most countries does not give a right to cancel or return it simply because you have changed your mind once it is being made or has been delivered. In particular:
- EU and EEA: the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised (Article 16(c) of the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU, as implemented in your country).
- United Kingdom: the 14-day cancellation right does not apply to goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised (regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013).
- Türkiye: the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for goods prepared in line with the consumer's wishes or personal needs (Distance Contracts Regulation, article 15). See the Turkish policy.
- United States and Canada: there is no general legal right to return an online purchase for a change of mind, and we do not offer one for personalised Magazines. Your rights for defective, damaged, lost and late Magazines remain (sections 5 and 6), as do any cancellation rights under your state or provincial law, for example if information we were required to give you was missing.
This exception only covers changing your mind. It does not affect your rights if your Magazine is faulty, not as described, damaged, lost or delivered late, and it does not apply to items that are not personalised (section 8). Our Personalized Products Policy explains what counts as personalisation and what counts as a defect.
We tell you about this before you pay, and we ask you to confirm it at checkout.
5. Defective, not as described, damaged or wrong items
5.1 What we cover
We are responsible for any of the following, whether the problem arose during production or in transit:
- printing faults such as smudged, streaked, blurred (where your file was sharp) or misaligned printing, or ink that has not set;
- binding faults such as loose staples or a broken spine;
- missing, repeated or wrongly ordered pages, or a different page count from the one you ordered;
- a format, paper, binding or finish different from the one you ordered;
- content that differs from the version locked when you ordered, in a way you did not cause;
- damage in transit (crushed, torn or wet Magazine or packaging);
- a missing item (for example fewer copies than you ordered) or someone else's Magazine.
5.2 Your remedies
For any of these problems you can choose:
- a reprint of your Magazine from the same locked file, sent to you at no cost; or
- a full refund of the affected Magazine, including the shipping you paid for it.
You keep every other remedy the law gives you. In particular:
- EU and EEA: the legal guarantee of conformity lasts at least two years from delivery. You may require repair or replacement (for a Magazine, in practice a reprint), and where that is impossible, disproportionate, unsuccessful or not done within a reasonable time, a price reduction or a refund on ending the contract.
- United Kingdom: under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days for a full refund, the right to a repair or replacement, and then to a price reduction or a final right to reject.
- Türkiye: under Law No. 6502 you may choose to withdraw from the contract, a price reduction, free repair or replacement with a defect-free item, within the two-year period from delivery.
- United States and Canada: the warranties implied by your state or provincial law apply. We do not exclude or limit them.
5.3 What we do not treat as a defect
Results that come from content you supplied or approved are not defects. Examples are spelling mistakes in your text, a low-resolution photo that prints soft after the editor warned you about it, crops and layouts you chose, blank inside covers on a paper you chose that does not print them, and small colour differences between a screen and paper. See our Personalized Products Policy. If you are not sure whether something is a defect, write to us and we will look at it with you.
5.4 How to report a problem
Once your parcel has shipped, you can use Report a problem on your order page; you can also always write to info@dearedition.com with your order number, what is wrong, a few clear photos, and whether you would like a reprint or a refund. If you received someone else's Magazine, please do not share or copy it; we will arrange its return or secure destruction at our cost.
To help us investigate quickly with our Partners and carriers, please tell us about visible transit damage or a wrong or missing item within 14 days of delivery, and about a print or binding defect within 30 days of delivery. These timeframes are requests. They do not shorten or remove any legal right. You can still contact us later within the periods the law gives you.
International Orders: what we ask of you, and why. When you report damage, a defect, a wrong item or a parcel that did not arrive, we ask you to confirm the delivery address (or write the correct one) and, unless the parcel did not arrive, to add at least one clear photo of the problem. Our printing Partner needs both before it can send a replacement. Our Partner can replace a Magazine at no cost only if we tell it within 90 days of the day the parcel was dispatched. That is why we ask you to report a problem as soon as you see it, and in any case within 30 days of delivery and within 80 days of the dispatch date shown on your order page. These timeframes are about how quickly we can claim a free replacement from our Partner. They are not a deadline for your rights. If you report later, we still look at your report and you keep every right described in this policy and the law gives you; the difference may be that we have to arrange the reprint or the refund ourselves, which can take longer.
5.5 Returning a faulty Magazine
If the problem is visible in your photos, we do not ask you to send the Magazine back; you can keep it. If we do need it back, we tell you how and we pay for the return.
6. Lost and late Magazines
If your parcel is lost in transit, delivered to the wrong address by the carrier, or shown as delivered but never received, we investigate with the carrier and then reprint your Magazine at no cost or refund you in full, as you prefer. If your Order is late, you have the rights described in section 9 of our Shipping & Delivery Policy, including, depending on where you live, the right to cancel and receive a full refund.
7. Payment problems
- Duplicate payment. If you were charged more than once for the same Order, tell us. We refund the extra charge as soon as we confirm it with our payment provider, and in any case within the refund period for your region (section 9).
- Failed payment with a charge. If your card shows a charge but your Order says the payment failed, the charge is usually a temporary authorisation that your bank releases. If it is not released, write to us and we will resolve it with our payment provider.
- Price errors. If we find an obvious error in the price after you have ordered, see our Payment, Pricing & Taxes Policy. We never charge you more than the total you agreed to.
8. Items that are not personalised
Some items are not personalised, for example a gift box offered with a Türkiye Order, a gift card (if we offer them), or a product made from one of our templates that you have not personalised in any way. For those items the normal withdrawal rules of your country apply:
- Türkiye: you may withdraw from the purchase of a non-personalised item within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason and without penalty, by writing to info@dearedition.com. We refund the price of that item within 14 days of your notice. Returns through our designated carrier are free; details are in the Turkish policy.
- EU, EEA and UK: you may withdraw within 14 days of receiving a non-personalised item, or of the purchase date for a gift card, without giving a reason, by telling us — for example by writing to info@dearedition.com. Before we sell you an item that carries this right, we will tell you how to exercise it, including through a withdrawal function where the law requires one. We refund the item within 14 days of your notice.
- Elsewhere: the rules of your country apply.
Withdrawing from a non-personalised item does not affect the personalised Magazine in the same Order, unless the item cannot be separated from it.
Gift cards and shared gift funds, when offered, are also governed by their own terms, which are shown where you buy them.
9. How and when we refund
- Method. We refund to the card or payment method you used, through our payment provider. We do not refund to a different card, account or person. Amounts paid with a discount code, account credit or gift card are returned to that code, credit or gift card.
- Currency. We refund the same amount in the same currency you paid in. If your card account is in a different currency, your card issuer converts the refund at its own exchange rate, which may differ from the rate used when you paid. Your card issuer may also charge its own fees; we do not.
- Timing. We issue every refund that is due to you within the period in the table below. A refund becomes due, for example, when you cancel or withdraw, when we agree to refund a faulty, damaged or lost Magazine, when a late Order is cancelled, or when we confirm a duplicate charge. The period depends on where your Order is delivered and where you live. If more than one row applies to your Order, we follow the one that refunds you sooner. If the law that protects you gives you a shorter period than the table, or a right the table does not mention, we follow the law. The table never takes away a right the law gives you.
| Where | We issue the refund |
|---|---|
| United States | Within 7 working days after the refund becomes due. |
| European Union, EEA and United Kingdom | After you withdraw from a purchase that has a right of withdrawal (a non-personalised item, section 8): within 14 days after we receive your withdrawal notice. In every other case — for example after you end the contract because of late delivery, or under your legal guarantee for a faulty Magazine: without undue delay, and within any period the law sets. |
| Türkiye | Within 14 days after the refund becomes due (see the Turkish texts, such as the İptal, İade ve Değişim Politikası). |
| Canada, including Québec | Within 15 days after the refund becomes due, for example after a valid cancellation. |
| All other countries | Within 14 days after the refund becomes due, or sooner if the law where you live requires it. |
- When the money arrives. Once we have issued the refund, the time it takes to appear on your statement depends on your card issuer.
- Partial refunds. If only part of an Order is affected (for example one of several copies), we refund that part, including any shipping charged for it.
- Confirmation. We e-mail you when we issue a refund, and your order page shows it.
10. Contact and complaints
Write to info@dearedition.com or use your order page. Please include your order number. If we cannot resolve your request, our Terms of Service explain your options, including the consumer bodies and courts of your country. Customers in Türkiye may apply to the consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts, as explained in the Turkish policy.
Using our process does not stop you from contacting your card issuer about a charge you dispute. See our Payment, Pricing & Taxes Policy.
