  • Sent straight to them with a gift note, no price in the parcel

Why a personalized magazine makes such a good gift

Most personalized gifts carry a name. A personalized magazine carries a whole person: the trip where everything went wrong, the advice they repeat every Sunday, the photo from 2009 they hoped was gone forever. It looks like something from a newsstand, with cover lines, an interview and photo spreads, and every page is about them.

It works because it takes the photos already sitting on your phone and gives them a story. A photo book shows pictures; a personalized photo magazine tells the reader why each one matters, in captions, lists and features written in a magazine’s voice.

In the UK it’s usually called a personalised magazine; in the US, a personalized or custom magazine. It’s the same gift: a real printed copy, made for one person, about one person.

How to give one, from idea to doorstep

Everything happens on your phone or computer, and you can save it and come back before you order.

  1. Choose their magazine

Pick a design that sounds like them, or tell Dee, our AI assistant, who it’s for and what the occasion is, and Dee suggests one.

  2. Collect the good stuff quietly

Send photos straight from your phone with a QR code, and share one link so friends and family can each add a page without the recipient finding out.

  3. Let Dee draft, then make it yours

Dee asks a few questions and writes the headlines and captions. Change any word or photo, page through the whole issue and see the price before you pay.

  4. Ship it to them, or to you

At checkout, choose your address or theirs and add a gift note. It’s printed after you order and sent with tracking.

Tips for a gift they’ll keep

The best personalized magazines are specific. A few things that make the difference:

  • Write one cover line only your circle will understand. It’s the first thing they read.
  • Mix the years: one photo from every era beats twenty from last summer.
  • Ask three to five people for a page each. Their notes are often the pages they reread.
  • Keep captions short and concrete: a date, a place, what someone said.
  • Use phone photos at their original size; the editor tells you if one may print soft.
  • Save the last page for a letter from you.
  • Check the delivery date on the order page before the big day, and leave a margin.

A cover print is a great joke for a party. A photo book holds the most pictures. A personalized magazine is the one they read from cover to cover, because it’s about them.

Questions about giving a personalized magazine

What is a personalized magazine gift?

A printed magazine made about one person, given to them as a present. It has their name in the masthead, your photos on the pages and stories written about them: an interview, lists, captions and notes from friends.

How much does a personalized magazine cost?

Prices go by the number of pages, starting at $39.99 for one printed copy. The order page shows the total for the delivery address before you pay.

Can I send it straight to them as a surprise?

Yes. Enter their address and a gift note at checkout. The parcel goes straight to them, and there’s no price inside.

Can friends add pages without the recipient knowing?

Yes. You share one link, and everyone adds a page: a photo, a memory, a short note, signed or anonymous. You decide what goes into the finished magazine, and nothing is sent to the person it’s for.

Will it arrive in time for the birthday?

It’s printing time plus delivery time. The order page shows the estimated delivery date for the address before you pay, and for a special day the wizard works out the last day to order. Dates are estimates, so leave a margin.

Is a personalised magazine the same thing?

Yes. Personalised is the British spelling, and some people say custom magazine. It’s the same printed gift; the order page shows whether we deliver to the address and what it costs there.

How many photos do I need?

There’s no fixed number. Each magazine has its own photo spots and you can add or remove pages, from 16 to 52. Phone photos work well; the editor warns you if one may print soft.
