This policy explains how long Dear Edition keeps each kind of information, how you can delete things yourself, and what happens when you delete your Account. It is part of our Privacy Policy. We describe how things work today, including where automatic deletion is not yet in place.
1. Our approach
- We keep information only as long as we need it to provide the Service, to complete and support your Orders, to comply with the law, or to establish or defend legal claims.
- You can delete most of your Content yourself at any time.
- Some records — mainly Orders and invoices — must be kept for periods set by law, even after you delete your Account.
- Where we have not yet set up automatic deletion for something, we say so below, and you can ask us to delete it.
2. How long we keep each kind of information

Our payment provider, Partners and carriers keep their own records of payments and shipments for the periods their laws require.
3. Deleting things yourself
You can delete these at any time, without asking us:
- a Magazine — this also deletes its saved versions, contribution links, Contributors' contributions, and closes its surprise and Living Pages;
- a photo in your library (if the photo is still used in a Magazine, the editor will tell you);
- a saved address or an Important day;
- a contribution link, surprise page, Living Page or event post, if you made it;
- a Community design (unpublish);
- your conversation with the assistant and other information on your device, by clearing your browser data;
- your whole Account (section 4).
Deleting something in the Service does not change a Magazine you have already ordered.
4. Deleting your Account
You can delete your Account yourself in your account settings, under Your data › Delete my account. For your safety we ask you to type a confirmation word and, if you have not signed in recently, to sign in again first. If you cannot do it yourself, write to info@dearedition.com from the e-mail address of your Account; if you write from another address, we will first need to confirm that the Account is yours.
- When it has to wait. Your Account cannot be deleted while an Order you paid for is on its way (paid but not yet delivered or refunded), while an Order is waiting for payment, while a problem you reported is still open, while a group gift you started is still collecting, or while your Account belongs to a company team. The page tells you what is in the way.
- What is deleted. Your Account and your sign-in; your Magazines and their saved versions; your photo library and the other files you uploaded; contributions friends sent you and your contribution links; surprise pages, memory boxes and Living Pages; your saved addresses, Important days and notification settings; your reviews, problem reports and support requests; your published Community designs, your Community handle, likes and follows; your account credit; and, in the browser you delete from, your drafts and your conversation with the assistant.
- What we keep. The records of Orders you paid for — the bill, invoice details, payment, delivery details, the name and e-mail address given at checkout, the consents you gave and the order history — because the law requires us to keep them (section 2). We keep them without a link to any Account, and without the Magazine's title, gift note and pictures. The fixed copy and print files of those Orders are deleted once the period for complaints about the print has passed. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) copy of your e-mail address so that we never send you marketing e-mails, a record that an Account was deleted (without your e-mail address or Account ID), and information needed for a pending dispute or legal claim.
- The page confirms when your Account has been deleted.
Before you delete your Account, you can download a copy of your information in your account settings, under Your data › Download my data. The file contains your Account details, Magazines, library photos, Orders, consents and other activity in commonly used formats; its download link works for 15 minutes and the file is kept for 7 days.
5. Backups and copies
We do not keep separate backup copies of our database. When information is deleted, it is removed from our live systems; our cloud provider stores data redundantly within the same region to protect against hardware failure, and deleted files may remain recoverable in our storage provider's systems for a short time before they are permanently erased. Information you have already received — for example e-mails we sent you, or files you exported — stays with you.
6. Information held by others
- Printed Magazines cannot be recalled once delivered.
- Partners and carriers keep shipment and production records under their own legal obligations. Print files we make available to our production partner for Orders delivered outside Türkiye are accessible through links that expire after 7 days; the partner may keep its own copy of the files for the time its terms and laws require.
- Our payment provider keeps payment records under its own legal obligations.
- AI assistant apps you connected keep what you shared there, and what they received from us at your request (page previews, small photo previews, your friends' contributions), under your agreement with their provider. We cannot delete it for you; disconnecting the app stops any further access, and you can delete the conversation in the app as its provider allows.
7. When we keep information longer
We may keep information longer than stated above if we are required to by law or by a court or authority, or if we need it to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim — for example during a dispute about an Order. We delete it once the reason has ended.
8. Changes
We will update this policy as we introduce automatic deletion and set the periods marked as "not yet set" above. The current version is always on this page.
